Zermatt is a town in the district of Visp, canton of Valais. It lies at the foot of the Matterhorn and it is a car-free zone. Matterhorn is a mountain of the Alps, whose summit is 4.478 metres high, making it one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe.

Gornerschlucht (Gorner Gorge) The Gorner Gorge offers a thrilling adventure. Since the last ice age, the waters of the Gornervispe have carved an ever deeper chasm. The rock, greenish serpentinite, is about 220 million old. This natural spectacle is a 15 minute walk from the end of the village of Zermatt.

Gornergrat The Gornergrat Railway is located in the Swiss canton of Valais. It links the village of Zermatt (1.604 m) to the summit of the Gornergrat. The Gornergrat rail-way station is situated at an altitude of 3.089 m, which makes the Gornergrat Railway the second highest railway in Europe after the Jungfrau and the highest open-air railway of the continent.
